EDITOR ’ S NOTE

Welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent

CIO magazine for the APAC region .
This month ’ s cover features Warwick Calkin , CIO at the University of Western Australia . He tells us how the university is deploying the process mapping capabilities of the Nintex Process Platform to accelerate process improvement and underpin Business Continuity . The visual and easy-to-use process mapping and management capability of the Nintex Process Platform is supporting long-term continuous process improvement across all the university ’ s faculties and operations .
“ In areas where significant IT investment is planned for the future , it is essential that processes are understood , simplified and standardized before any system implementation commences ,” said Calkin . “ Nintex Promapp gives a common view of the ‘ what ’ and ‘ how ’ of these processes , and which teams are involved . Staff who are documenting their processes in Nintex Promapp feel more empowered to challenge process steps with their stakeholders as they are able to easily share and discuss the documented process .” To find out more please turn to p56 . continue . Michael Sentonas , Chief Technology Officer at CrowdStrike , told us : “ The stream of high-profile ransomware attacks on Australian businesses in the last 12 months along with the growing complexity from on-going remote working caused by the lingering pandemic as well as geopolitical tensions , should encourage all Australian businesses to get smart about cybersecurity .” You can read more of the report ’ s findings by turning to p23 .
On p36 we hear from Jonathan Airey , Director , Customer Success APJ , Tealium . He tells us how a new approach to data collection will encourage consumers to provide information with real value and build trust . “ First-party data is a collection of events and information collected directly from customers , by your brand , based on what they ’ re doing and how they engage with your product , app and website ,” he said . “ It ’ s data that ’ s given with consent and is more accurate than third-party data sources . It ’ s the data your audience is giving directly to you . This gives you the power to analyze how consumers interact with your brand so you can improve the experience you ’ re providing , both holistically and individually .”
In this month ’ s Trending we take a look at how CrowdStrike ’ s 2020 Global Security Attitude report reveals the startling rate at which Australian organisations are being targeted by ransomware attackers , and their concerns about state sponsored threats as COVID-19 lingers and international tensions
