Can you provide further details about the benefits the project will bring to TIME ’ s customers ?
The optical solutions being deployed to further futureproof TIME ’ s network will offer customers enhanced service quality and higher speeds . Through the deployment , TIME will be able to dynamically optimize and reroute wavelength connections to recover network capacity , thus extending optical network lifespan and avoiding premature fiber exhaustion .
This will help reduce and , in some cases , eliminate the cost and scale required to network wavelengths in the electrical domain , leading to significant capital expenditure ( CAPEX ) and power savings and more efficient and environmentally friendly networks .
The implementation of Nokia ’ s CDC-F optical network technology will also be able to use more efficient wavelength protection options to conserve network wavelength counts . By efficiently rerouting wavelengths onto newly installed fiber routes , users will be able to rapidly utilize networks more efficiently .
Users will also be able to increase wavelength capacities without changing the network equipment that routes wavelengths , thus extending the life and future proof of the optical networks . This new wavelength agility will enable agile optical networking that can rapidly respond to new Software-Defined Networking ( SDN ) related service innovation .
We asked Datuk Mohd Rauf Nasir , Managing Director of Malaysia at Nokia , further questions to find out more about the project .
How will the deployment enable TIME to differentiate its webscale service offerings and what are the benefits of this ?
The deployment will enable webscale companies to build distributed data centers and network infrastructure to deliver cloud , 5G , IoT and Industry 4.0 applications and services to their customers , allowing them to respond rapidly to sudden and massive demand for additional capacity , scaling data centers and networks easily and flexibly , with more agility and resiliency , and more security and efficiency .
network solutions to provide a level of scalability for supporting a wide range of applications and services .
The 1830 PSS platform will further allow TIME to deploy services rapidly , reduce network total cost of ownership and extend network lifecycles . The deployment will also be supported by Nokia ’ s fifth generation PSE-V chipset and 200 – 400G multi-haul pluggable optics to power coherent transmission at the lowest possible cost per bit , with low power and space requirements .
The CDC-F iROADM architecture and self-healing GMPLS network will also eliminate the need for on-site visits to route or change wavelength connectivity , simplifying network planning . This whole new set of capabilities reduce network total cost of ownership while maximising optical network capacity .
Why did TIME choose Nokia to deliver high availability optical services in Malaysia ?
Nokia is a trusted partner for critical networks and is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile , fixed and cloud networks . Over the years , Nokia has established itself as a leader in optical networking , 4G / LTE and 5G , and remains committed to improving and expanding Malaysia ’ s connectivity and network quality .
Ang Thing Jiun , Chief Technology Officer of TIME dotcom
How will the deployment enable TIME to add operational and cost efficiencies to its network ?
The optical networks designed by Nokia will utilise Nokia ’ s 1830 PPS portfolio of DWDM CDC-F optical
Being a part of Malaysia ’ s 5G Task Force , which comprised many players within Malaysia ’ s telecommunications ecosystem , we have a long-standing relationship with our customers and partners and remain committed to supporting them wherever possible . p
