MALAYSIA
Intelsat , operator of one of the world ’ s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial networks and leading provider of inflight connectivity ( IFC ), has announced the beginning of Intelsat ’ s inflight connectivity services in Indian skies through an agreement with Nelco , India ’ s leading satellite communication service provider .
Edge Centres has opened its first data center in Asia in Kuala Lumpur to continue its growth across Asia .
Customers are starting to onboard at the facility which is the culmination of under four months of strategic planning and execution .
This agreement is welcome news for Intelsat ’ s airline partners and flyers as they will enjoy end-to-end broadband coverage on domestic and international aircraft flying to or from an Indian airport , as well as aircraft flying over the country .
Intelsat ’ s IFC service enables airline passengers a seamless athome and in-office connectivity experience .
Edge Centres , based in Australia , says the project highlights its ability to execute in any location .
The company is also developing a facility in Vietnam ’ s Ho Chi Minh City and has three projects planned in Thailand .

AUSTRALIA
Commonwealth Bank has unveiled its latest technology hub designed to support more than 400 software developers , cloud engineers and cyber-specialists in the Melbourne CBD and help create new opportunities for Victoria ’ s expanding digital economy workforce .
The hub , based in the heart of Melbourne ’ s central business district on Collins Street , was officially opened by the bank ’ s Chief Information Officer for Technology , Brendan Hopper , and includes partnerships with Monash University and RMIT University .
Software engineering students from Monash University and RMIT who are interested in completing their integrated placements working at CBA will be provided with job placements in a range of engineering roles such as cloud , data , analytics and software engineering .

PAKISTAN
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited ( PTCL ) has successfully conducted the country ’ s first trial of 1-Terabit transport capacity per wavelength , in collaboration with Nokia .
The trial was conducted in a live network environment , where PTCL Metro Transport Network was upgraded to 1-Terabit per channel , extending its capacity to extreme speeds of 32-Terabit per fiber .
The trial was based on Nokia ’ s Photonic Service Engine Transport Technology , designed to maximize network capacity and provide better customer experience , with faster and higher bandwidth . This pilot transformation will lead to transport network enablement for future technologies , while creating new opportunities for industries as well as individuals .
