MC Digital Realty expands Osaka footprint to launch fourth data center at Osaka campus

KIX13 , the fourth building on MC Digital Realty ’ s Osaka data center campus
The addition of KIX13 brings total IT capacity at the MC Digital Realty Osaka campus to over 70MW , to meet surging demand for digital infrastructure in Japan .

MC Digital Realty , a 50 / 50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Digital Realty providing a full suite of data center solutions in Japan , has announced the official opening of KIX13 , the fourth building on the 23,000 square-meters Osaka data center campus .

A three-story facility reinforced with seismic isolation systems for resilience against earthquakes , KIX13 offers customers institutional quality digital infrastructure solutions of up to 21MW of IT capacity in one of the most highly sought-after markets for cloud data centers in the world .
As enterprises in Japan transition to the cloud , cloud service providers are increasing their footprint in Tokyo and Osaka to serve accelerating consumer and enterprise demand for cloud services , driving growth of Japan ’ s data center market . As well , Japan ’ s national Digital Transformation initiative , Internet usage and the advent of 5G have seen demand for online gaming , streaming and FinTech services soar , adding to the need for institutional quality infrastructure solutions .
The carrier-neutral Osaka campus is an important pillar of Digital Realty ’ s strategy to strengthen its network of connected communities in APAC and globally .

Nokia wins new 10-year 5G deal with Antina in Singapore

Nokia is to deploy a new standalone 5G network enhancing existing network infrastructure throughout Singapore .

The 10-year win , following a competitive tender process , is an extension to Nokia ’ s existing nationwide 5G network deal with Antina , the joint venture formed by mobile network operators M1 and StarHub in Singapore .
Antina will utilize its spectrum in the 2.1 GHz ( n1 ) and 3.5 GHz ( n78 ) band which provides a good combination of capacity and coverage .
All of these solutions are pitched as delivering an enhanced 5G user experience . Danny Tan , CEO , Antina , said : “ We are building a game-changing 5G network in Singapore , delivering state-ofthe-art 5G experiences to our customers across the country .”
Tommi Uitto , President of Mobile Networks , Nokia , said : “ Singapore is creating a world-class 5G environment and we are proud to work alongside Antina in this important project .”
Nokia will deploy a 5G standalone indoor / outdoor network as well as expand the existing network utilizing Antina ’ s 3.5GHz spectrum holdings .
Under the deal , Nokia will equip new buildings throughout the city-state with its AirScale indoor Radio ( ASiR ) small cell solution for indoor coverage .
Nokia will also provide equipment from its latest AirScale portfolio including 5G base stations and adaptive antennas .
