CHINA
Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization ( Shanghai EITC ) has announced the establishment of Shanghai Data Exchange International Board .
The board aims to enable global data interconnection by exploring new mechanisms for two-way cross-border data flows and encouraging collaborations between enterprises in China and their multinational counterparts .

AUSTRALIA
Digital Realty has signed a renewable electricity supply contract with leading energy retailer Origin Energy , contracting for wind power capacity that will see its multitenant data center portfolio in Australia match energy demand with renewable sources from 2024 .
Shanghai EITC Director , Jincheng Wu , officially announced the establishment of Shanghai Data Exchange International Board at the Data Eco-system Partnership Conference ( DEPC ) in Singapore on April 24 .
The establishment of Shanghai Data Exchange International Board is seen as helping to make the supporting infrastructure more robust for easier engagement in the trading of data on a global scale – most notably between China and the rest of the world .
It is also pitched as providing a practical basis for benchmarking with the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement ( DEPA ) and other internationally accepted rules for the digital economy .
Digital Realty ’ s data centers in Sydney will be matched with 100 % renewable electricity in January 2024 and its data center in Melbourne will be matched with 60 % renewable in 2024 and increasing to 100 % from January 2026 . Digital Realty ’ s uptake of renewable electricity in Australia is expected to reduce greenhouse emissions by up to 70,000 tonnes annually , contributing to Australia ’ s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development efforts to 2030 and beyond .
Digital Realty ’ s renewable electricity supply is supported by the Stockyard Hill wind farm , located about 150 kilometers away from its Melbourne data center . This is in line with its global approach to prioritize cost-competitive net-new renewable energy sourced within the same regions where its data centers are located .

INDIA
Eviden , the Atos business leading in digital , cloud , Big Data and security , has opened two new cloud centers in India at Bangalore and Pune .
The centers are dedicated to migration ( Pune ) and cloud operations ( Bangalore ) supporting Eviden ’ s cloud approach to end-to-end cloud services at scale .
