SINGAPORE CISOS IN GLOBAL TOP THREE FOR FEAR OF IMMINENT CYBERATTACK

Survey stats show Singapore attack fears as far higher than the global average .

Proofpoint ’ s latest Voice of the CISO report ranks CISOs in Singapore third globally in terms of concern for an imminent material cyberattack .

The report reveals that mounting CISO pressures make the job increasingly unsustainable with 67 % feeling they face unreasonable job expectations , a significant increase from last year ’ s 35 %.
CISOs are being tested at a personal level with higher expectations , burnout and uncertainty about personal liability .
While the return to their new reality is acknowledged as one reason behind this view , CISOs ’ job-related angst is recognized in the report as a likely contributor with 56 % are concerned about personal liability and 70 % say they have experienced burnout in the past 12 months .
Overall , 80 % of Singapore CISOs surveyed feared imminent risk of cyberattack – higher than the global average of 68 %.
These CISOs are said to have experienced steadily increasing concerns about cyberattacks since the start of the pandemic , with 44 % agreeing their organization was at risk in 2021 and 64 % agreeing in 2022 .
The rapid increase could be attributed to greater reliance on online collaboration tools due to the prevalence of hybrid work arrangements , which inadvertently also gave cybercriminals access to a larger target pool .
Likewise , concerns about preparedness levels have increased : 55 % feel unprepared to cope with a targeted cyberattack .
