With its automated , fully customizable modularity , Incode ’ s end-to-end identification platform , Omni , delivers the highest standard in security , user experience and regulation to help businesses reimagine identity systems .
What style of management philosophy do you employ with your current position ?
At Incode , we have always been hyper focused on eliminating obsolete identity systems . Nevertheless , reimagining trust goes beyond transitioning the world to digital IDs . It ’ s important for us to create a space where our team is free to innovate , accomplish great work and positively impact society . We know our mission to power a world of trust is only possible with the best and brightest , so we insist on the freedom and responsibility to do our best work . By increasing employee freedom as we grow , rather than limiting it , we attract and nourish innovative people to be self-motivating , self-aware and highly disciplined . This allows us all to have better chances of sustained success .
What do you think is the current hot technology talking point ?
Trust . The data shows that businesses are increasingly experiencing financial losses as a result of cyberattacks . What the data doesn ’ t show is the lack of trust that follows , which can be far more devastating for a company . In 2022 , Asia Pacific felt the brunt of cyberattacks – accounting for 31 % of all attacks .
What do you currently identify as the major areas of investment in your industry ?
In the technology industry , the biggest investment you can make will always be in your people .
At Incode , we will be doubling our global team as a result of our APAC expansion . This new phase of Incode ’ s growth will be led by two new strategic hires , Martin Lazarevic , General Manager , Australia and New Zealand ( ANZ ) and Ashley Hoey , Technical Director , Asia Pacific ( APAC ).
What are the region-specific challenges when implementing new technologies in APAC ?
The lack of literacy and level of English varies from country to country with English spoken widely in India , Singapore , Australia and New Zealand ; less so in the other remaining countries .
Low productivity hampered by a slow uptake of – and resistance to – technology . An IMF report states that APAC businesses are facing low productivity which new digitization technologies can help boost . Improving digital literacy and reducing the digital divide across industries , businesses and workers would help close productivity gaps .
Millions of South-East Asian small and medium enterprises ( SMEs ) face significant barriers that prevent them from benefiting from Digital Transformation technologies and reaching their full potential .
Many small and medium enterprises in APAC are young enterprises , which , when combined with their small scale , makes them a weaker counterpart for many standard market players .
This is not only in terms of access to funding but also for customers who might perceive small suppliers as too risky .
According to a report by IBM , Asia Pacific manufacturing accounted for 48 % of cases , followed by finance and insurance at second place with 18 % of cases . The top infection vector was spear phishing by attachment .
The Australian government committed AU $ 9.9 billion in its most recent budget to cybersecurity , which is an ample resource to invest in Australia ' s biometric security . The investment is a good indicator that Australia , a wellknown early adopter of technology , could become a global leader in security – and Incode is committed to achieving that vision .
Nonstandard market players such as crowdfunding platforms and venture-capital funds are still in the early stages of development in many APAC countries and are unable to fulfill the needs of smaller companies .
What advice would you offer somebody aspiring to obtain a C-level position in your industry ?
I live my life by one mantra that I ’ d encourage ambitious aspiring C-suiters to consider on their journey – the limit is a decision . p
