Tasmanian public safety services transition to new A $ 763 million Government Radio Network

The Tasmanian Government has announced eight Tasmanian public safety agencies will transition to the Government Radio Network ( TasGRN ) provided by Telstra and Motorola Solutions .

The A $ 763 million network was announced in 2020 and has been built on a feature-rich platform providing a range of capabilities including greater interoperability , increased coverage , secure encrypted communications for emergency service workers and a modern user interface .
Hydro Tasmania , TasNetworks , Parks and Wildlife and Sustainable Timber Tasmania will transfer to TasGRN initially followed by police , fire and emergency services .
Minister for Police , Fire and Emergency Management Felix Ellis said : “ The project has created up to 50 jobs during the threeyear construction phase , with additional positions to be recruited to help run and oversee the network once it is fully operational .
The AUS $ 763 million to establish TasGRN has been invested by the state government with partner agencies .
“ This new network will provide greater interoperability , increased coverage , secure , encrypted communications for our emergency service workers , and will deliver a modern user interface .”
As a bonus , the TasGRN will deliver improved mobile phone coverage for Telstra users in Tasmania at no cost to the State – particularly in regional Tasmania .

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority ( PEZA ) has announced a strategic partnership with PLDT Enterprise , the B2B arm of the country ’ s largest fully integrated telco PLDT , to promote the country ’ s digital ecosystem and support various industries with ICT and connectivity solutions to global investors .

PLDT continues to expand its international network infrastructure including investments in the Jupiter Cable System , Asia Direct and Apricot subsea cable systems .
