AUSTRALIA
Nokia and Bharti Ltd ( Airtel ) are to to deploy a next-generation optical transport network that will provide additional capacity , higher reliability and lower cost , enabling superior services for Airtel ’ s customers .
As part of the agreement , Airtel will utilize Nokia ’ s 1830 PSS-x OTN switches in its National Long-Distance Network connecting major cities across India .
The launch of 5G networks and the push for broadband connectivity across India is increasing demands for Communications Service Providers ( CSPs ), including augmentation of backhaul transport for denser 5G mobile networks , wholesale connectivity for new segments like smart grids , datacenter interconnect ( DCI ) and other business services .
The increased capacity will mean that Bharti can potentially deliver faster and more reliable broadband services and be ready for new use cases .
The Nokia OTN solution also enables Bharti Airtel to upgrade its legacy transport switching infrastructure across its pan-Indian network footprint .
Motorola Solutions will work with the NSW Telco Authority ( NSWTA ) to provide WAVE PTX Government with Critical Connect for the state ’ s Emergency Services Organisations ( ESOs ).
The new technology will extend the reach of radio communication while providing first responders with interoperable voice and multimedia communication .
Using Motorola Solutions ’ cloud based Critical Connect service , ESOs will gain secure access to NSW Public Safety Network .
The new service represents an important milestone in shaping Australia ’ s future Public Safety Mobile Broadband ( PSMB ) capability .
PSMB will provide emergency services with high-speed mobile voice and data services to improve responses during emergencies .

PHILIPPINES
Philippine Airlines and its affiliate carrier , PAL Express ( PALex ), have embarked on the next phase of their journey to deploy IBS Software ’ s iFly Staff travel solution .
The partnership with iFly Staff enables PAL and PALex employees , dependents and retirees to plan , book and manage their travel requirements for leisure and business trips via multiple channels and devices .
PAL is the first Southeast Asian SaaS customer of IBS Software and the fourth from the Asia-Pacific region .
Since the go-live , iFly Staff has significantly improved the travel experiences of PAL employees by replacing paper-based manual processes with self-service booking capability .
