CASE STUDY

Transformation has been a central theme for businesses in recent times .

As many have acknowledged the need for change , it has often fallen to the CIO to be the implementer of that change . However , evidence now points to CIOs leading change , with technology as a catalyst for transformation . The CIO is becoming more strategic , more visionary , and more important .
Role of the CIO
The role of the CIO has changed significantly in recent years . Initially , the CIO was a mix of the head of infrastructure and the data manager . Now , the CIO is a strategic partner of the CEO in delivering the increasingly digital vision for organisations .
The CIO is a trusted ally of both the CEO and the CFO , as they implement strict governance and efficiency in the running of the business , but the CIO must also be a champion of change as Digital Transformation efforts are conceived and executed .
CIOs must partner with C-suite peers to deliver the right enterprise solutions , especially as tech ownership disperses through different roles and responsibilities . This partnership is vital to ensure the CIO can deliver on the vision of the CEO , and CxO peers .
The CIO must be a technology visionary , a business leader , a change manager , an executive educator , and a business partner to every other C-suite function and division manager .
The CIO must be a horizon scanner and a project manager . It has been a rapid change and one that brings many new responsibilities , but one that also brings much promise in terms of what a good CIO can do to transform an entire business .

AS THE CIO BECOMES A STRATEGIC PARTNER TO THE BUSINESS , THEY MUST CREATE STRONG

PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE OTHER C-SUITE OFFICERS TO

ENSURE BROAD SUPPORT FOR TRANSFORMATION .
