Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise provides SPB technology to PT Fiber Media Indonesia network expansion
New networking solution for the Greater Jakarta area resolves technology challenges and improves the user experience .
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise , a leading provider of network , communications and cloud solutions tailored to customers ’ industries has provided PT Fiber Media Indonesia ( FMI ), a telecommunications services provider for government and private sector in the Greater Jakarta area , with a new networking solution that resolves technology challenges and improves the user experience .
Based on the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6900C32E and Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6900X24 , the new infrastructure delivers a higher connection speed , higher access bandwidth for subscribers and increased backbone connectivity as well .
The ALE solution introduces Shortest Path Bridging ( SPB ) into the FMI network , which delivers traffic on the shortest path available and enables multiple active paths for more rapid convergence after a network problem .
SPB is primarily focused on addressing the shortcomings of the aging Spanning Tree Protocol ( STP ) used by FMI and on improving their network ’ s performance and reliability . SPB also ensures security by separating different types of traffic into ‘ containers ’ to prevent unauthorized access .
