Nokia and Cellcard upgrade residential fiber broadband network in Cambodia
Nokia has confirmed that CAMGSM PLC
– commercially known as Cellcard – will migrate its fiber network from GPON to XGS- PON using Nokia ’ s Lightspan and Altiplano broadband solutions .
The modernized network will improve enduser experiences and provide up to 10Gb / s internet speeds to customers . It will also help Cellcard increase competitive advantage and enhance the reliability , flexibility and scale of its fiber network to better support evolving customer demands . better visualize , automate and optimize the broadband access services it offers . Using Nokia ’ s Lightspan access nodes , Cellcard will also be able to establish a future-ready network that can seamlessly evolve to 25G PON and immediately address the growing demand for more capacity .
Asitha De Costa , ICT Division CIO , Cellcard , said : “ The new network will enable our users to enjoy high-bandwidth-consuming
applications like gaming while enhancing network efficiency through automation .”

Under the agreement , Cellcard will deploy Nokia ’ s Lightspan Optical Line Terminals ( OLTs ) and its Altiplano Access Controller in the capital city of Phnom Penh , Siem Reap and other major cities across the region . China Unicom will bring 5G-Advanced to over 300 cities in 2025
China Unicom officially unveiled its 5G-Advanced action plan – a key step for the carrier on their 5G evolution journey .
According to the action plan , China Unicom will launch 5G-Advanced services in the central areas of 39 key cities and key locations in over 300 other cities by the end of 2025 .
It will launch the 5G-Advanced Xinghuo Program and the 5G-Advanced Baichuan Program , which are aimed at promoting industry-specific applications and AI applications , respectively .
China Unicom will also lead the establishment of a device ecosystem alliance for converged innovation to deepen collaboration with upstream and downstream partners and jointly build up the 5G-Advanced industry ecosystem .
Currently , China Unicom runs more than 2 million 5G base stations , which account for over 40 % of the total 5G base stations worldwide , to serve 290 million users .
Wang Limin , China Unicom ’ s Deputy General Manager , said : “ Based on the action plan just released , China Unicom will work with various partners to build up the 5G-Advanced industry ecosystem and contribute more to a digital China .”
Cao Ming , Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei Wireless Solutions , said the continued integration of 5G-Advanced and AI will transform traditional mobile businesses and create huge opportunities for the mobile industry , shaping new experiences , applications and services .
