Fujitsu Japan and JMDC are collaborating to advance medical care and contribute to the establishment of a sustainable healthcare system in Japan.
The collaboration brings together JMDC’ s expertise in utilizing anonymized medical data with Fujitsu Japan’ s extensive customer base across the healthcare sector.
Fujitsu Japan holds the top share in the Japanese electronic health record market for medical institutions. By combining this strong market position with JMDC’ s data-driven capabilities the collaboration is expected to accelerate the utilization of medical data by hospitals and healthcare organizations while supporting more data-driven management decision-making across the healthcare system.
The two companies are combining Fujitsu Japan’ s deep knowledge of the medical field and advanced technologies including AI with JMDC’ s prediction models based on insurance user data. JMDC has also cultivated expertise through Pep Up one of Japan’ s largest personal health record services which is used by 7.7 million people nationwide and supports ongoing engagement with individual health data.
The scope of data utilization will expand from Diagnosis Procedure Combination data to comprehensive electronic health record data. This expansion will enable a broader and more detailed understanding of clinical and operational trends. The initiative will further promote the use of medical data contributing to improved management for medical institutions and enabling advanced research for pharmaceutical companies government agencies and academia.
Looking ahead, Fujitsu Japan will contribute to the realization of digital hospitals that promote Digital Transformation across medical institutions. JMDC will advance initiatives that contribute to“ building a sustainable healthcare system through addressing social issues with the power of data and ICT” and“ accelerating the societal integration of data” through expanded data availability.
As part of the collaboration, Fujitsu Japan will provide Dashboard 360 a solution that enables visualization and analysis of management and clinical data free of charge to medical institutions that agree to provide anonymized DPC data for secondary use.
Dashboard 360 is offered as part of Fujitsu Limited’ s Uvance business model which focuses on addressing societal challenges through technology.
The solution forms part of the Healthcare Management Platform a suite of services designed to optimize patient flow in acute care hospitals and help resolve operational and financial management challenges.
The platform integrates with electronic health records enabling factor analysis of issues such as declining bed occupancy rates and waiting times for hospitalization or surgery. Analysis is based on information including inpatient care details and outpatient conditions that lead to hospitalization or surgical procedures.
Dashboard 360 also features a benchmarking function utilizing data provided by JMDC alongside DPC data from participating medical institutions supporting timely and informed decisionmaking for hospital management teams.
JMDC will work with Fujitsu Japan to anonymize DPC data in a secure environment and provide it to pharmaceutical companies, government agencies and universities for research purposes. Combined with JMDC’ s accumulated insurance user data covering approximately 20 million individuals, the collaboration will visualize the entire patient journey.
This includes stages from pre-onset abnormal test results through inpatient treatment and post-discharge prognosis enabling early disease detection prevention and precise evaluation of longterm treatment effects nationwide. •
