Editor’ s Note
I
’ d like to begin by introducing myself as I step into the role of Editor at Intelligent CIO APAC. This marks a timely transition as I relocate to Australia to lead the region and gain on-the-ground knowledge of its tech landscape.
One of the key developments I’ ve observed is the number of new offices opening, as companies expand their footprint and drive new initiatives – largely fuelled by AI. However, alongside this growth, some organisations are also navigating challenges around AI governance.
This issue features Anindita Sinha, VP of Commercial Operations at Shionogi Inc., on the cover. Anindita discusses how the pharmaceutical manufacturing company required technical support with managing its data workload with cost control in a hosted environment.

Shionogi turned to SAS as a result and the tech giant’ s CIO discusses the process in more depth – providing insight into the process with Shionogi as well as the future technical requirements SAS foresees evolving over the life of the partnership. The full story can be found on page 14.
A hot topic included in this month’ s issue for Talking Point is around organisations overlooking AI risk as governance fails to keep up. Global AI security leader, TrendAI, has published new research revealing that organisations worldwide are pushing ahead with AI deployment despite known security and compliance risks. The results of the survey are interesting, but perhaps not surprising.
On page 24, we explore the partnership between Nokia and RailTel. As one of India’ s leading neutral telecom companies, operating with modern infrastructure is crucial. After the company realised it required an upgrade to its national and metro optical transport infrastructure, it turned to Nokia for the answer. Read the full story to hear how it achieved this.
Project Round-up, on page 33, provides an overview of innovative developments in Australia and Japan. Macquarie Technology Group has secured a A $ 200 million hybrid investment from National Reconstruction Fund Corporation( NRFC), while Fujitsu has announced that its comprehensive traffic simulation system has been adopted for the Maebashi City Regional Public Transportation Plan.
Later in the magazine, we turn our attention to data centres. With Asia-Pacific fast emerging as the centre of the global data centre market, Alex Saez, Partner in the data centre team and Managing Director of APAC at Cundall, addresses the challenge of whether power, cooling and delivery infrastructure can scale fast enough to support it.
That’ s just a snapshot of what we have in store this month. For more of the latest news and insights, visit our website: intelligentcio. com / apac www. intelligentcio. com
