CASE STUDY
We view data not just as an operational asset, but as a strategic resource for shaping the future.
We view data not just as an operational asset, but as a strategic resource for shaping the future. Through MDM, we are reinforcing global data governance and enhancing the quality and speed of decision-making based on trusted data.
At the same time, we are building an environment where field scientists and data professionals can quickly identify issues and execute solutions. This is essential for accelerating frontline-led DX.
Moreover, we expect Informatica’ s technological innovation and rapid deployment of integrated new features to strongly support our DX initiatives from a technical foundation perspective. By leveraging these advanced capabilities, we are confident in realising a fastpaced digital transformation.
By combining Informatica’ s technological strengths with Yamaha Motor’ s operational excellence, we aim to achieve sustainable growth and maximise corporate value – ultimately delivering deeper Kando to society through data-driven innovation.
Beyond the technical aspects, key factors for project success included defining clear governance and scope definition, specifically determining the appropriate scope for separating‘ global’ and‘ local’ master data and establishing the proper boundaries for the business processes that should be managed within MDM.
How did Informatica work with Yamaha Motor to implement the solution?
Informatica worked closely with Yamaha Motor to implement the solution through a phased approach and with the goal of enabling Yamaha Motor to achieve autonomous development and operation.
In the initial phase of the project, Informatica Professional Services( IPS) provided intensive hands-on support, design and configuration assistance, and sample development, all aimed at enabling Yamaha Motor’ s internal team to master the product knowledge. This established a foundation for the Yamaha Motor team to gain a thorough understanding of the Informatica MDM SaaS solution.

Taito Kozawa, Area Vice President – Japan, Informatica from Salesforce, shares his experience of the partnership so far and what the future holds.
What, if any, were the technical challenges inherent in implementing the Informatica solution with Yamaha Motor?
The primary concern for Yamaha Motor when adopting Informatica MDM SaaS was not so much the technical challenges but the compatibility with the on-site team ' s‘ scratch development culture’. As they were accustomed to years of custom development, there was an initial concern about whether they could seamlessly operate their master data management processes using MDM SaaS.
To address this concern, Informatica conducted product training and a proofof-concept( PoC) based on business requirements. This helped deepen the on-site team ' s understanding and build their confidence that MDM SaaS could effectively support their operations.
As the Yamaha Motor team ' s proficiency increased and they became accustomed to the product operation and the interplay between their own business requirements and MDM SaaS, IPS gradually reduced its involvement. We supported the transition to a model where the customer ' s inhouse team could take the lead on development and modifications. This‘ Coaching and Mentoring’ approach( or‘ Running alongside’) ensured the establishment of a self-driving data governance framework and realised cost-effective, sustainable operation of the MDM solution.
What future technical requirements do you foresee evolving over the life of the partnership?
Informatica looks forward to partnering with Yamaha Motor to leverage AI agents in supporting business tasks. As such, it is essential to continuously provide clean, well-governed data to mininise the risk of AI agent inaccuracies. Informatica aims to be the platform delivering trusted, reliable and accurate data to these AI agents. By embedding AI capabilities into MDM SaaS, we aim to support Yamaha Motor in addressing its data challenges and improve operational efficiency.
Informatica set the goal of enabling Yamaha Motor to achieve independent development and operation and worked with the company to implement the solution through phased support. n
