Boab AI announces first cohort of Australian AI scale ups and launch of $ 100m fund

Artificial Intelligence scale up program , Boab AI , has announced the launch of its first cohort of companies and the commencement of its US $ 100m Boab Global AI Fund .

Boab AI ’ s first cohort comprises PI . EXCHANGE , Remi AI , Strongroom AI , Plaetos and Daitum .
Boab AI Managing Director , Andrew Lai , said : “ We are exceptionally pleased with the caliber of these Australian companies .
Although a total of US $ 1.5m is being invested in this first cohort , each company is eligible for up to US $ 5m in follow-on funding in future investment rounds .
Chief Executive Officer of PI . EXCHANGE , Quan Pham , said : “ Historically we ’ ve had to go overseas to find investors but we ’ re very happy to be now receiving such support here in Victoria . We ’ d love to see the entrepreneurial ecosystem grow further in Australia , and Victoria particularly , with the hope to help rally both industry and entrepreneurs to support local AI companies and scale AI employment opportunities .”
“ With Boab AI being the first AI scale up program in Australia providing funding , advice and services bespoke to each company , we expect these companies to scale quickly and expand internationally .”
Building on the initial traction of the scale up program , Boab AI announced the formal launch of the Boab Global AI Fund and a capital raise of US $ 100m . The Boab Global AI Fund intends to invest in another 150 AI companies .

NTT and Cisco to revolutionize stroke treatment at Siriraj Hospital in Thailand

NTT and Cisco have partnered to help

Siriraj Hospital , Thailand ’ s oldest and largest hospital , to use telemedicine to enable rapid treatment for stroke patients .
Known as the Siriraj Mobile Stroke Unit , this special ambulance connects its in-situ first responders to the experts at the hospital . This allows doctors to provide immediate attention , medical treatment and diagnosis to patients during their transfer to the hospital . and are set to extend Siriraj Hospital ’ s fleet of mobile stroke units by five this year .”
Equipped with Medical Image Transfer with a high-speed multicellular router and essential medical equipment such as CT scanner , the Mobile Stroke Unit facilitates the medical team to scan the patient ’ s brain and send high-resolution images from the ambulance to the doctors for rapid diagnosis .
Cisco Telepresence video conferencing system was integrated to enable doctors to fully assess the patient ’ s condition and provide remote advice to the first responders allowing them to prepare the best treatment possible .
Cisco WebEx on the other hand , facilitates the mobile and hospital-based teams to collaborate and work seamlessly for the optimal outcome .
Sutas Kongdumrongkiat , CEO of NTT in Thailand , said : “ NTT believes in using technology for good and we are honored to help Siriraj Hospital provide better care to patients . We understand the importance of timely treatments in stroke patients , which can sometimes be difficult with Bangkok ’ s frequent traffic congestions .
