Autoliv and XPENG partner to advance safer mobility worldwide
Autoliv, a global leader in automotive safety systems, has announced that XPENG, a leading Chinese physical AI technology company with growing international presence, and Autoliv( Shanghai) Management Co., have signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to support the development of safer mobility solutions for global markets.
The partnership reflects both companies’ ambition to strengthen collaboration across markets and support future mobility development in a rapidly changing global automotive landscape. XPENG is one of China’ s leading innovators in smart mobility, combining advanced electric vehicles, AI, autonomous driving and humanoid robotics.
Under the agreement, Autoliv and XPENG will expand collaboration across several key areas, including technology development, digitalisation, supply chain coordination, sustainability and global business expansion, combining Autoliv’ s worldwide safety expertise with XPENG’ s innovation in smart electric mobility.
The partnership is designed to enhance system-level collaboration and improve innovation efficiency as the industry continues to evolve through electrification, connectivity and globalisation.
Autoliv will leverage its global footprint and longstanding expertise in automotive safety systems to support XPENG’ s product development and global expansion strategy.

Sungrow BESS strengthens Malaysia’ s national grid
Sungrow, a leading global provider of photovoltaic( PV) inverters and energy storage systems, has announced the official commissioning of the Santong Battery Energy Storage System( BESS), owned and developed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad( TNB), marking another significant milestone for Malaysia in advancing the national grid-connected battery energy storage system.
Located in Terengganu, the 100MW / 400MWh BESS Santong project plays a crucial role in Malaysia’ s energy transition journey by strengthening the resilience of the national grid, while enabling wider integration of renewable energy. Designed to meet stringent grid performance requirements, the project targets a complete cycle efficiency( RTE) of 88 % in its first year of operation and supports both grid-connected and grid-forming operation modes to enhance system stability and reliability. energy storage solution consisting of 90 units of PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled energy storage systems( ST5015UX-4H + MVS5140-LS) along with FEMS( Facility Energy Management System), thus enabling smart dispatch and flexible grid support capabilities.
The project set a record for the fastest BESS delivery in Malaysia to date and became the first grid-connected battery energy storage system project with grid-forming capabilities in the country. Leveraging proactive local service support and comprehensive project
implementation, Sungrow successfully facilitated a 100MW full power discharge test and received recognition from the Malaysian Minister of Energy and the Deputy Prime Minister.
“ BESS Santong represents a significant achievement in strengthening Malaysia’ s power supply system and advancing the integration of renewable energy,” said TNB Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Razak Abdul Majid.“ Its rapid response capabilities enhance grid reliability and support the demand for electricity equivalent to approximately 40,000 households across the East Coast.”
